Latina moms rock! And now the most popular mamás Latinas are uniting in a campaign to encourage voters to vote for candidates who plan to do something about climate change.
September 1, 2020, Jennifer Lopez, Salma Hayek, Zoe Saldana, Karla Souza and Eva Longoria Bastón came together to launch the #VoteLikeAMadre campaign in support of candidates that are serious about climate change. Jennifer Lopez indicated that this time around the vote will be a vote for the future of children. In her interview with Lin-Manuel Miranda, this world-renown celebrity mom encouraged everyone to do something about keeping the air clean and to slow down the climate change through voting even if politics is not something everyone likes or agrees on.
For the campaign, parents are invited to make and post videos of them making a pinky-swear promise to their child that they will vote on November 3 for the candidate that supports and will fight for action on climate change. This campaign also brings attention to the fact that Latino communities were affected the most by climate change. The majority of Latinos live in states like Texas, Arizona, and Florida where even now the effects of climate change are starting to affect their communities.
“The pressure’s on, ladies. I am urging you to make a promise to your kids that you’ll never break, that this November you’ll vote their future in mind,” Jennifer Lopez said.
