Iowa State men’s basketball ranked No. 2 in the nation for first time in program history

Iowa-The climb continues for Iowa State men’s basketball. For the first time in program history, the Cyclones are ranked No. 2 in the nation.

Iowa State is No. 2 in both the Associated Press and USA TODAY Sports Coaches polls. It is the Cyclones’ highest ranking ever.

The Cyclones are also enjoying their longest winning streak since T.J. Otzelberger’s first season at Iowa State, when the team opened the 2021-22 season with a 12-0 start.

Iowa State extended its winning streak to 11 straight after a strong finish against Utah on Tuesday, followed by a thrilling overtime road win at Texas Tech on Saturday.

The Cyclones (14-1, 4-0 Big 12 Conference) have a big week ahead with two games against ranked opponents. Iowa State will host Kansas on Wednesday night before going on the road to play at West Virginia on Saturday.

The Cyclones climbed to No. 2 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll. Last week, they were No. 3.

Iowa State also moved up to No. 2 in the newest AP Poll. It is the highest ranking ever for the Cyclones. It was previously ranked No. 3.
