DES MOINES, Iowa (Oct. 28, 2021) — Prairie Meadows has announced that the Iowa Soccer Development Foundation (ISDF) is the recipient of a grant through its Youth Sports and Recreational Grant Program. The ISDF will use the grant dollars to expand interest in and access to soccer to youth around the state.

Prairie Meadows Youth Sports and Recreational Grants are designed to serve youth 19 years old and younger by encouraging their participation in sports, band, cheerleading and other recreational activities. The grants can also be used to improve sports and recreational items such as equipment, instruments, uniforms and facilities.

“The ISDF is thrilled to receive a Youth Sports and Recreational Grant from Prairie Meadows,” said Charley Campbell, Iowa Soccer Development Foundation secretary. “Part of our mission as a foundation is to unite individuals through shared experiences, especially through the world’s game — soccer. This grant will help us promote and expand access to soccer to youth across the state.”

The ISDF — a 501(c)(3) — was established in 2019 to design and build the Pro Iowa Soccer Stadium and Global Plaza. ISDF is championed by the Pro Iowa campaign, which prioritizes serving underserved, at-risk youth. Over the past year, Pro Iowa has partnered with Musco Lighting and Kick It Forward to install 10 Pro Iowa mini-pitches throughout the state. These mini-pitches are uniquely designed futsal-sized courts that are thoughtfully positioned in communities throughout Iowa to rejuvenate abandoned courts and areas with limited space.

“This is a great opportunity to amplify and complement the 10 Pro Iowa mini-pitches that have already been installed in partnership with Musco Lighting and Kick It forward,” said Campbell. “The grant funds generously provided by Prairie Meadows will help us promote these fun and active places where Iowa’s underserved youth can play, practice and build their strength and character through the world’s game.”
