Since 1945 Arrowhead Youth & Family Services non for profit agency has been successfully providing services to youth at risk and their families in the residential setting. Our goal is to continue to expand our therapeutic services into the community while remaining true to our mission to motivate youth-at-risk ages 11- 18 to become productive and responsible young men and women by providing the highest quality counseling, education, and social services to youth and their families.
With the new rebranding of our logo which entails the services of Residential, Academy, and Community has allowed us to expand into the community. Specifically, our community outreach programs allow us to provide our services to a wider range of youth and their families. Not only in our residential treatment facility in Coal Valley, IL but in our community office as well.
We currently run Strategies to Succeed which is strengths-based approach that utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy interventions. The curriculum is designed to empower, develop skills, and build on the individual youth’s strengths within the group setting. We cover topics such as anger management, empathy, drugs and alcohol counseling, conflict resolution, bullying, and gang prevention to name a few.
Conducting Accordingly; What is going on with my kid? is an ongoing monthly parental support group for parents seeking positive therapeutic and behavioral interventions for youth displaying difficulties with managing behavior at home and school? This group is the first of its type and was created to assist parents in understanding interventions. The goal is to provide an outlet for parents dealing with the stressors of life and to learn how to better recognize, understand, and manage symptoms pertaining to diagnosis’ such as Attention – Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Conduct Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder or simply to understand why their kids act the way they do. Group discussion is facilitated by an experienced Arrowhead Youth & Family Services family therapist for attendees. Sessions are ongoing at this time and meet the first Thursday of every month, beginning September 4th, 2014.
Finally, we provide Individual and Family Therapy Services and are currently accepting new clients.
