chingoblingThree years after he coined the phrase “Chingo de Mayo” Hip hop artists/comedian/businessman Chingo Bling a.k.a. “The Tamale Kingpin” is headlining a national tour in support of his new album release They Can’t Deport Us All, which will hit the market June 5th (or Chingo de Junio).   But only Two weeks after all the Cinco de Mayo celebrations, will the Quad Cities be able to witness this “inbasion,” – as he calls it with his stage broken English – when he performs at Davenport’s Redstone Room on Saturday, May, 19th.  On tour with him are fellow Texas rap artists Lucky Luciano, Stunta, Coast, JezuFavio, Flatline, and DJ Eddie Deville.
Chingo Bling is one of the rising stars
of the exploding Latin urban music scene and has been recognized by hip hop pioneer Russell Simmons at one of his financial summits held in Houston, Texas, which earned Chingo Bling the front cover of the March 9, weekend edition of USA Today newspaper.  He has also been featured on MTV’s My Block show where he explains how he earned his “Tamale Kingpin” name by selling tamales from the trunk of his car.
This will be one of the first Latin urban venues held in the Quad Cities, which has been in high demand from the youth that follow the genre closely.  DJ’s Terrence and A.C. of the Urban Latino Hip Hop Show will be hosting and DJ’ing playing the best in Latin, hip hop, and reggaeton music. With this demand for Chingo Bling’s music in the area fans like Melinda Aguilar, 18, from East Moline have to get their friends to make copies of his CDs.
“I first heard the ‘Ostrich Boots’ song in my friend’s car and he burned a mix CD for me,” Melinda said. “I like his lyrics and I think they are funny.  He is different and unique and I like how he changes his music.”
While on he is on stage, you can check out his boots made out of colorful ostrich leather and complete with the Nike swoosh on the side.
Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show starts at 9 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door, and $40 for VIP.  The VIP tickets include entering thirty minutes early to get pictures taken with Chingo Bling and autographs.
