An Iowa teenager has gone viral on TikTok after posting a video featuring a large gorilla costume at a party.
On April 14, 16-year-old Ricardo Garcia from West Liberty posted a 26-second video to his TikTok account featuring an 8-foot-tall inflatable gorilla costume dancing alongside the partygoers at one of his friend’s quinceañera.
Garcia said the reason he posted the video was that he was scrolling on his TikTok feed and saw a video that also featured a tall inflatable gorilla costume.
“I thought that it was funny, so I decided to post my own video,’ he said. “I didn’t think it would actually go viral.”
As of April 29, Garcia’s video had 3.2 million views and morethan 690,000 likes. He said the costume was provided by Tiny’s Tunes Entertainment of Muscatine, who DJed the event. Garcia said someone came out in a similar-looking panda suit, but said he didn’t get in on video.

Garcia isn’t any stranger to going viral; two other videos on his account have views of more than 133,000 and 1.3 million, respectively. He said that since posting his latest viral video with the gorilla costume, he has gained nearly 1,000 new followers.

“I’ve had videos that have gotten seen by many people before, but it was nothing like this costume one,” he said. “I’ve been getting notifications on my phone non-stop since posting it.”
