The newly formed Hispanic Professionals Network of the Quad Cities is ready to build upon a successful first gathering that took place on Nov. 16th at North Park Mall’s Habaneros Mexican Restaurant in Davenport, Iowa that brought out about 60 Hispanic professionals and individuals that work with the Hispanic community. The next event is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 15th at 6 p.m. at the new Habaneros in South Park Mall in Moline, Ill. After the large turnout of the first meeting that made many attendees felt proud of seeing that many Latino professionals form the area in one place, the organizers expect an even larger turnout for the second occasion.“The most uplifting part was just being surrounded by so many educated and respected Latinos in our community. I mean, we are all over the place. I saw faces that I knew well growing up in the Q.C. and I saw new faces as well.” Government Employee Elena Terronez said.People from business and organizations that work with the Hispanic community attended the first event to network and learn about each others’ professions. Many swapped business cards as they introduced each other, while other mingled with old acquaintances.“I was filled with a lot of pride and anticipation of a group like this. It will positively impact many professional Latinos in the Q.C.” Ms. Terronez said.To be part of the Feb. 15th meeting at Habaneros in South Park Mall in Moline, Ill. please call Sylvia Mendez at (309) 752-9280 or log on their website at qchpn.com and contact the organizer via email.
