Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs Miguel Cotto is becoming one of the most anticipated fights in recent years. After the recent frustration of boxing fans by the hyped Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight against Many Pacquiao and the lackluster fight against Andre Berto and Mayweather’s retirement fans are ready to turn the page.
Both Canelo and Cotto have a highly combatant style that has people anticipating a slugfest and maybe a knockout.
Although Canelo is a heavy favorite by the Mexican and Mexican-American community in the QC the boxing community is split on the expectations.
“I got Cotto.” affirmed Jesse Gomez, local Boxing manager “He is older but he’s been rejuvenated throwing his hooks with bad intentions, worked on his head and foot movement, but most of all he respects his Trainer Freddie Roach” he added.
Santos Saucedo, Muscatine County Boxing Club coach favors Canelo “Oh it’s going to be Canelo win by a body shot. If not will go to decision but Canelo will win!”
Patrick Peña, Peña’s Davenport Boxing Club Coach is a little more conservative on his prediction “I like Canelo, but Cotto looked good in his last fight and seems rejuvenated with Roach , but Canelo will win decision”
Boxing Superfan Jessie Aguilar has this to say “I like Miguel Cotto in this fight. He brings experience and a newfound confidence with Freddie Roach as his trainer. I think Cotto will box Canelo, break him down with shots to the body and stop Canelo in the later rounds with probably with a left hook to the body.”
He predicts a TKO “Cotto TKO 10”
Regardless of who wins this highly anticipated fight between two of the best pound for pound boxers in the world everyone is on agreement that this could be the next great fight that we have been waiting for a while.
