The Orpheum Theatre will host Mexican music, folklórico dance, a José Alfredo Jiménez tribute and a Maya ball game presentation beginning at 3 p.m.

SIOUX CITY, IA — México en el Corazón will return to Sioux City on Sunday, Aug. 30, with a free show at the Orpheum Theatre.
The performance begins at 3 p.m. at 528 Pierce St. It is free, open to the public and suitable for all ages.
The program will feature songs by José Alfredo Jiménez. In addition, performers will present traditional dances from Durango and Jalisco.
A Maya ball game presentation will also be part of the show.
Sioux City is the second stop on the tour’s Midwest, South and East route. The route begins Aug. 27 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and continues through Sept. 26.

The free performance begins at 3 p.m.
The Sioux City show will take place inside the Orpheum Theatre. The venue is located at 528 Pierce St. in downtown Sioux City.
Admission is free. However, organizers had not announced a separate ticket or reservation process as of Aug. 23.
They also had not released a separate opening time or parking plan.
The program honors José Alfredo Jiménez
The 2026 production marks 100 years since José Alfredo Jiménez was born. His catalog includes many well-known ranchera songs.
Live music will accompany the dance and cultural presentations. In addition, the touring production includes Ballet Folclórico Guadalajara and Mariachi México en el Corazón.
The norteño group Pepe y sus Pepillos also appears in the broader production.
For the Sioux City stop, the program will combine Jiménez’s music with traditional dances from Durango and Jalisco.
The show includes a Maya ball game presentation
The performance will also feature a presentation based on the Maya ball game. The ancestral tradition has roots in Mesoamerica.
As a result, the program will include an Indigenous cultural element alongside mariachi music and regional dance.
Sioux City is the second stop on a 16-city route
The second México en el Corazón route includes 16 stops in the United States and Canada.
First, the tour will visit Fayetteville on Aug. 27. It will then reach Sioux City on Aug. 30.
After Iowa, the production will travel to Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. Later stops include New York, Ontario, Georgia, Alabama and Texas.
Finally, the route will end Sept. 26 in Houston.

Unity in Action will host the Sioux City performance
Unity in Action is coordinating the local presentation. The South Sioux City nonprofit runs education, leadership and community programs across Siouxland.
