Columbus Junction Free Clinic will be at Roundy Elementary School at 1212 Colton St., Columbus JCT., Iowa from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 11, 2020.  There will be Spanish interpreters available to help patients that do not speak English. This free clinic is something that Araceli Velasquez-Ramirez, community advocate recently hired by LULAC Council 10, considers very important for the community.

“One of the first things I wanted to see in the community when I took this position was to be able to bring the mobile health clinic to Columbus Junction, for different reasons,” Ms. Velasquez-Ramirez explained.  “One is because I think the mobile clinics are the backbone in our community where a lot of people don’t have access to insurance or other proper documentation to have medical help, clinics are vital, convenient, quick and free especially for those in need. I believe that taking care of yourself and your health is something you should do before anything. I feel that being healthy should be part of your lifestyle. Living a healthy lifestyle can prevent chronic disease. We need to prioritize and educate the importance in our health in the Latino community! We need to focus in the needs of our community! Taking care of our health is one (of the needs) in our Community.”
