Deportivo La Coruña suffered a big setback as their leading scorer Andres Guardado suffered an injury to his right knee. He will be out a month, though Deportivo La Coruña did defeat Real Betis 1-0. Javier Aguirre’s Atletico Madrid tied Murcia 1-1.
In Germany, what was supposed to be match of Stuttgart’s Ricardo Osorio and Pavel Pardo against Schalke 04’s Vicente Sanchez featured only Sanchez playing in the last four minutes of the game. Osorio was injured and Pardo accumulated too many yellow cards. Sanchez’s Schalke 04 won the match 4-1. Aaron Galindo’s Eintracht Franfurt defeated Hertha Berlin 3-0 and in the Netherlands, Carlos Salcido’s PSV Eindhoven defeated AZ Alkmaar 2-0.
