There are a lot of young people who work and study at the same time. Among all these young people there are two brothers that are truly incredible because they study and run their own business.
The brother Stephen and David Niño grew up in a big family in Quad City area. Their dad is Mexican who put a lot of time into teaching his five children to speak Spanish. Every year this dedicated father, who also taught his kids about Mexican culture and their roots, took his whole family to Mexico for vacations. That is why the brothers speak Spanish perfectly and they are proud to be Hispanic.
Now Stephen and David study at Black Hawk College. Both of them plan to continue with their studies in Western University. Stephen is 22 years old and David is 21 years old. Even though they are young, they took over their dad’s business Avenue Motors and they are trying hard to stay on top of the things. “It is hard to study and take care of business. I have to find time for both things,” Stephen confessed. Stephen explained that because he does not have a lot of free time he has to take some classes through Internet.
Business that brothers take care of is lot where they sell used cars. This is a family business. David worked with his father since the beginning. Stephen started working at Avenue Motors two years ago. The brothers assure that they always try to create a personal relationship with all customers that come to them. After all Avenue Motors is a family business that means customers are treated here as part of the family. Stephen and David are always ready to help and since they speak Spanish fluently, they are always there to help those who cannot speak English.
Even if they are doing a good job as businessmen, many people refuse to believe that it is not their father who is in charge of the business now. “Often people us to call our dad, but he is not the one in charge anymore. We are,” Stephen said.
Unfortunately, there are not many young people who can say that they are in charge of business even though they are still in their 20s and that they are doing their job successfully. Usually, the people in charge of businesses are older people and that is why many have doubts towards young businessmen. Stephen and David take time to explain to their customers they their father let they take over the business and that they will treat the customer as well as their father did. The brothers are sure that will do the best with the business and they are hoping to even grow it. They have plans to expand and open another car lot.
It is very hard to be a student and to be in charge of the business, but it is not an impossible task. Stephen and David Niño is a good example to follow for many young people. When they go to classes they learn the theory, but as soon as they leave classroom they apply what they learned in their business. But the most important thing is that those two brothers show every day “Yes, I can!”
