The Greater Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce garners national recognition as Small Chamber of the Year
The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) celebrated three Hispanic chambers from across the nation for their accomplishments, contributions and commitment to raising the profile of Hispanic-owned business and helping them compete through resources, education and awareness.
“This year’s winners demonstrate a deep commitment to the future of Hispanic entrepreneurship,” said Javier Palomarez, USHCC CEO and President. “They are a great example of local chambers working to improve the nation’s economic recovery and showcasing the great impact of Hispanic-owned businesses in their own backyard. Today, we are honored to pay tribute to them.”
The recipients were honored during the USHCC’s 33rd Annual National Convention in Los Angeles, the country’s largest gathering of Hispanic business leaders and entrepreneurs.
The Small Hispanic Chamber of the Year Award was presented to the Greater Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GQCHCC), which was started in 2008 to support and promote new business opportunities for Hispanic-owned business in the Quad Cities and surrounding areas in Illinois and Iowa. Today, the chamber has more than 200 members and offers programs like a multicultural speaker series and mixers, workshops and webinars.
“This is a great honor to all the people who are involved with the chamber, the members, the board, the staff, and all the volunteers who have helped us,”said Bob Ontiveros Chairman of GQCHCC “this is testimony to the significant economic impact of the GQCHCC in a very short period of time and the shared understanding it’s significant role in the region.”
The Greater Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is the only organization in the Quad Cities created to address specific needs of the Hispanic business community and not only serves the Quad Cities but also surrounding areas in Illinois and Iowa including Sterling, Rock Falls, Iowa City, Muscatine, and West Liberty.
The mission of the GQCHCC is to support, promote and enhance the growth and success of our local businesses and to leverage the community’s assets, contributions and unique Hispanic cultural identity to generate new business opportunities.
The Greater Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce welcomes businesses, organizations, and individuals from any cultural background to join this great organization designed to support, assist and recognize your efforts in our community.
Some of the chamber’s upcoming events include a forum that explains what healthcare reform means for Illinois small businesses on Sept. 27, an Illinois Candidates Forum on Sept. 29, a presentation by nationally renowned speaker Marisa Rivera which will focus on how Hispanic Americans are Making a difference in America’s Economic and Political Future on Oct. 5 and an Iowa Candidates Forum on Oct. 7.
