Fajitas, Filipiniana dancers and foreign flags were part of what gave visitors to the St. Ambrose Cultural Diversity Festival on Sunday a glimpse at the world outside their own. The annual event showcased performance groups representing different cultures and countries, including the Quad Cities Ballet Folklorico as well as salsa dancing by Jorge & Tara Campos, martial arts demonstrations by Moline Kendo/Shikendo and a Native American prayers and dance by Larry Lockwood.
The event serves as a fundraiser for Beeglobal, a student organization that promotes and encourages interaction between people of all cultures on campus. Visitors checked out booths of different countries, many which had various books, photographs and clothing and other trinkets that were meaningful to the respective nations. Numerous countries are represented by the St. Ambrose community, including Tanzania, Ecuador, Cambodia and Nepal.
