Santos Saucedo Announces Candidacy for Muscatine City Council, At Large

Santos Saucedo has announced he will run for Muscatine City Council, to fill the void for retiring Councilman Osama Shihadeh. 

 

Santos Saucedo is a Muscatine native. He earned his associate degree from Muscatine Community College, and a bachelor’s degree from Ashford University.

Saucedo has worked for Monsanto for 18 years, progressively advancing his career and is currently a Project Manager in the engineering department. Saucedo has successfully worked on multiple million dollar capital projects for Monsanto, experience which will be very valuable as a Muscatine City Council member reviewing City of Muscatine capital projects.

In addition to Saucedo’s experience in the business world, he is currently a part-time professor at Muscatine Community College. 

He is additionally well known for founding, operating, and coaching the Muscatine County Boxing Club. Muscatine law enforcement, school guidance counselors, teachers, and parents speak highly about Saucedo’s work with Muscatine children. The children who train at the Muscatine County Boxing Club have raised their GPA, improved test scores, improved school attendance, and most importantly are no longer involved with gangs, or illegal activity.

State Representative Gary Carlson has endorsed Saucedo for city council. Carlson says:

He is a Muscatine native desiring to take the next step in public service, continuing his efforts to make our community an even better place to live and raise a family.”

The Muscatine City Council election is Tuesday, November 3rd, 2015.
