The 19th Annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure will start at the John Deere Commons in downtown Moline, right next to the i Wireless Center and will go through the Floreciente neighborhood again this year. The race will end in the same place it began. In previous years, pink balloons and ribbons are used to decorate the neighborhood.
The event itself features a 5k run/walk and a 1.2 mile Family walk/run on Saturday, June 14. The race starts at 8 a.m. According to Komen Quad Cities’ website, “Since its inception in 1990, the Komen Quad Cities Race for the Cure has grown to the second largest race in the Quad Cities. During that same time, the local race has raised over $3.75 million and now provides more that 1,500 mammograms yearly to eligible women in our service area.”
