Mexico Loses In Final of FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup

Mexico reached the final of the Beach Soccer World Cup but lost to the two time defending champions Brazil in a blowout 8-2. However, Mexico has nothing to be embarrassed about. The only losses for Mexico were to Brazil in the first round 6-4 and of course the final.

They defeated Russia in penalty kicks to start the tournament anddefeated the Solomon Islands 6-3 to advance to the second round. Mexicodefeated Spain in the quarterfinals 5-4 and beat Uruguay 5-2 in thesemifinals to advance to the final.

 

Led by Morgan Plata who scored eight goals and had one assist, Mexicoreached the final. Plata received the Adidas Silver Shoe because he wasthe second leading scorer in the tournament. He also received theAdidas Bronze show for being named the third best player of thetournament.

The tournament is held yearly in Rio de Janeiro and Plata told Fifa.comthat if the players are kept intact, start working now, pick upexperience and maintain the same attitude, Mexico can be among the bestnext year.
