Marshalltown Community College will host its first ever Latino Family College Planning event on Sunday, March 6th. Visitors will learn how to enroll at MCC, learn about financial aid resources, and hear from other Latino students and their experiences at MCC.
“The goal of this event is to foster dialogue with Latino families to promote learning, to navigate the academic environment, and to overcome educational and personal barriers to success,” says Valerie Ruiz, MCC Student Success Specialist. “Our vision is to honor the diversity of Latino families and serve as the essential supporter on the road to academic success and economic security.”
Topics that will be covered include English as a Second Language (ESL), High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED), and financial aid resources for DACA/DAPA students.
The event will take place at 2 pm, at Marshalltown Community College, 3700 South Center Street. Visitors should enter Door 11. Childcare and a meal will be provided. Drawings include gifts, prizes, and $500 scholarship opportunities.
