More than 90% of Mexican immigrants in the Quad Cities are natives of the state of Guanajuato, arriving from its different cities, districts and towns. As it so happens in just about all of the United States these settlers are organized to help people from Guanajuato living abroad and any immigrant that needs it.

Our Quad Cities’ community relies on Casa Guanajuato, an organization located in Moline, whose mission is to promote healthcare, education, as well as cultural and sports activities seeking the well being of the people from Guanajuato and of the general public that desires to benefit and participate in its activities and better their quality of life.

Now Casa Guanajuato has good news for Hispanics in the Quad Cities:” we have extended our public office hours, we are now available six days a week”, Connie Barret, Supervisor of Casa Guanajuato Moline says enthusiastically.

Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. a staff member will always be available to guide and help the community in their own language, all Casa Guanajuato staff is bilingual. There is assistance on Saturdays as well from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

What kind of help can we find at Casa Guanajuato?

The Casa Guanajuato staff is willing to help in translation and interpretation to apply, to make claims, seek assistance in hospitals and be informed of all benefits that you may receive on behalf of different federal and state government entities.

“There’s so many people that don’t know that they’re able to receive food stamps, medical card and even money if their situation is in extreme poverty, that’s why we’re here to guide and help them obtain these benefits”, Connie Barret assures, in perfect Spanish.

These days numerous people have come to Casa Guanajuato with all types of questions: legal, like child custody and divorce, as well as different questions about immigration and even how to file their taxes, if Casa Guanajuato staff is unable to answer any concerns the person is referred immediately to a legal expert.

Casa Guanajuato Moline now has more time to assist the Quad Cities’ community, thanks to grants by the Illinois Coalition for Refugees and Immigrants Rights and the Trinity Health Foundation.
