Since 1998 Casa Guanajuato has been helping out families and giving back to the community through educational programs, workshops, advocacy, and community events. All the work this community organization does comes from the hard work of volunteers from all walks of life. For the past year the Bob Imler has been president of Casa Guanajuato and has volunteered his time to head the bi-weekly meetings and help out at the many events organized by the group. But Bob Imler is not the type to be giving out orders,
he is a doer. During his term as president he has helped not only to coordinate events but he is the type of person that will grab a broom and sweep up after the event is complete. His commitment to the community will be talked about by those who met him and worked with him at Casa Guanajuato and some of the events organized. He will return to his home in Texas where he is originally from.
On Monday, May 14 Karla Steele, Associate Attorney at Califf and Harper P.C. in Moline, was elected as the new president of Casa Guanjuato.  Karla Steele has been a board member at the center since 2006 and has offered her expertise in immigration law in workshops at the center. Augustana College Professor Esteban Loustaunau was elected as vice president for a second term.  The board of directors will be appointed in the coming weeks.
To bid farewell to Bob Imler, Casa Guanajuato will be sponsoring a party in his honor on Friday, May 25th at the Moline Community Center, 1613 5th Ave. Moline, from 4 – 6 p.m. There will be music, a performance form the Quad Cities Ballet Folklorico and Carnitas and cake will be served.
