Antonio Margarito defeated a previously undefeated Miguel Cotto on July 26th, 2008 and was crowned the new WBA Welterweight champion at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV. Margarito dropped Cotto to a knee early in the 11th round as a flurry followed prompting Cotto to take his own knee as his corner threw in the towel.
