Columbus Junction’s Hispanic Cultural Festival


Columbus Junction is the host again for this year’s Hispanic Cultural Festival. According to the city of Columbus’ webiste, the event began as a project of the Columbus Junction Development Commission.

This year’s festival starts with a recreation/open house at Community Health Center of Southeast Iowa on May 1st and ends with the main festival at the Columbus Junction Fairground on Saturday, May 10 from 12 to 6 p.m. Mariachi Ixtlan will perform from noon to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. that day. Also performing are Nora Gardad from 2 to 3 p.m. and an open mic is available from 3 to 4 p.m.

Since 2004, the festival has become a partnership of the commission, the Civic Society of Columbus, and a group of representatives from a dozen organizations around Louisa County.  The festival has been supported financially by corporate sponsors and a grant from the Community Foundation of Louisa County.
