The award recognizes Torres’ outstanding contributions to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility within the community.
Torres will be officially recognized at the YP Summit in Omaha on March 28th, 2024, where her remarkable efforts in fostering inclusivity and empowering the Latino and Hispanic community will be celebrated.
Christine Torres has been instrumental in connecting not only the Fremont Area but also individuals across the state of Nebraska and into Iowa and South Dakota. Her impactful work in building a strong and connected community of bilingual professionals has garnered widespread acclaim. Through her Spanish Networking Group, Torres has created a platform for professionals to network, collaborate, and thrive.
Moreover, Torres has demonstrated her commitment to empowering Hispanic businesses and fostering prosperity in the Fremont and surrounding communities. She spearheaded the establishment of the Hispanic Council within the Fremont Area Chamber of Commerce, with a mission to empower Hispanic businesses, bridge connections among all Chamber members, and foster economic growth.
One of Torres’ notable initiatives includes fostering a relationship with the Fremont Police Department, particularly with Lieutenant Ed Watts. Together, they have organized community walks where members of the Hispanic Council accompany Lt. Watts to various Hispanic/Latino-owned businesses in Fremont. These efforts aim to strengthen the relationship between the police department and the Latino/Hispanic businesses, fostering mutual trust and understanding.
