September 16 is celebrated in honor of Mexico’s Independence from Spain. Every year LULAC celebrates this day with a big party and this year is special as LULAC Council 10 also celebrates their 55th Anniversary. And for this special occasion they will be celebrating with a live Mariachi band.
LULAC invites everyone to celebrate Mexican Independence Day and meet the new Fiesta Queen on Saturday September 13, 2014. The celebration will be from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM at the LULAC center located on 4224 Ricker Hill Road, Davenport.
The social hour starts at 4:00 PM with music by Mariachi Campirano followed by a delicious dinner provided by El Mariachi restaurant. After the dinner guests will be able to enjoy a great entertainment program. There will QC Ballet Folklorico and music by Los Mocambos. One of the highlights of this celebration is the tradition of the crowning of the LULAC Queen.
“This is a very important part of our annual scholarship fundraising effort. For many years the Queen contest has helped sustain the scholarship program” said Mike Reyes, president of LULAC Davenport.
