Cecilia Nache, 49, of Rock Island, IL was the victim of the deadly car crash early Sunday morning.
“Ceci” as she was known to her friends was a special education paraprofessional for the Moline-Coal Valley School District working at Wilson School in Moline and at Lincoln Irving Elementary School in years past.
Ms. Nache was a member of the VIVA Quad Cities Fiesta committee for many years and became the president in 2012.
“Ceci was a loving mother and a caring friend. She always seemed to have a smile on her face and could brighten a room with that smile. Her passion was working with young students as is evident with her job as a paraprofessional helping teachers with students at Wilson Middle School in Moline, while also serving as a mentor to new paraprofessionals. This passion led her to the VIVA Quad Cities Fiesta organization.” Dr. Luis S. Moreno, current president of VIVA Quad Cities, said in a statement to Hola America.
“It is with a heavy heart that the VIVA Quad Cities Fiesta family must say goodbye to such a caring and passionate individual who was taken from us too soon by the actions of one careless individual. We will cherish the memories we have of her and we will never forget her.” Moreno added.
The death of Cecilia Nache is still under investigation. Another woman, Brittany L. Griswold, 34, of Geneseo, IL was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol and unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle out of Henry County. She remains hospitalized for her injuries in the crash.
