Authorities release the name of the person driving the SUV over the I-74 Pedestrian trail that ran over 3 people killing 1 of them.

The Rock Island County States Attorney has filed charges related to the traffic crash fatality that occurred on May 22, 2022. Chhabria A. Harris, 46, of East Moline, has been charged with 3 Counts of Aggravated DUI – Causing 

Death or Great Bodily Harm; 3 Counts of Failure to Stop at The Scene of an Accident involving Death or Personal Injury; 3 Counts of Aggravated Reckless Driving; and 1 Count of Reckless Homicide.

The Rock Island County Coroner released the name of the victim, Ethan L. Gonzalez, 21, of Moline, who died as a result of injuries from being struck by the vehicle. Two other pedestrians, an 18-year-old male and a 22-year-old male, both of Moline are in critical condition.

The crash is still under investigation by the Moline Police Department Traffic Unit and the Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone with information is asked to call the Moline Police Department at 309-797-0401.

At approximately 1:56 AM, on Sunday, May 22, 2022, Moline Police were dispatched to the pedestrian walkway on the new 1-74 bridge in Moline, Rock Island County, Illinois.

Officers found three victims that had been struck by a vehicle that drove through the walkway. One victim was declared deceased at the scene and two remain in critical condition.

Shortly thereafter, the suspect driver was located in East Moline, Rock Island County, Illinois, where she was seen getting out of a white Cadillac Escalade SUV, matching witness’s statements from the 1-74 bridge. 

Ms. Harris was taken to Unity Point on suspicion of Driving under the Influence. She was released from Unity Point and taken into custody by Moline Police Officers and formal charges were filed this morning.

Ms. Harris has been charged with 3 Counts of Aggravated DUI, Causing Death or Great Bodily Harm; 3 Counts of Failure to Stop at The Scene of an Accident involving Death or Personal Injury; 3 Counts of Aggravated Reckless Driving; and 1 Count of Reckless Homicide. 

Ms. Harris is currently being held on a $2 million bond in the Rock Island County Jail.
