Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, an impending post-apocalyptic action-adventure film, is co-produced and directed by George Miller, who collaborated with Nico Lathouris on the screenplay. Anya Taylor-Joy takes on the role of Imperator Furiosa in the title, supported by actor Chris Hemsworth who is known for his popular role as Thor. Furiosa’s character was previously played by Charlize Teron in the Mad Max movie and Anya is playing a young Furiosa.
In an interview with IndieWire she said: “I’ve been on a different planet for the last seven months, I think I need to sit down and attempt to try and digest what’s happened over the last seven months. But I’m incredibly, incredibly proud of it, and so proud of all of the people I got to work with, and just the amount of love and effort and work that went into it, I’m excited to see it.”
27-year-old Anya is of Argentinian descent but was born in Miami, Florida. She identifies primarily as Argentinian, she was raised in Argentina until age 6. Fans of the Netflix show “The Queen’s Gambit” were surprised to see Anya speaking Spanish in an interview about the show.
The movie Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga by Warner Bros. Pictures is scheduled to be released on May 24, 2024.
