This year’s Tribute to Our Lady of Guadalupe will kick off a weekend full of celebrations. Plan to attend a very special event presented by the Latinos Unidos and Office of Multicultural Student Life of Augustana College.
A Tribute to Our Lady of Guadalupe will be on Thursday December 10, 2015 at 6:30 PM at Augustana College Centennial Hall located at 3703 7th Ave, Rock Island.
The organizers of this free event would like to invite the whole community “to celebrate and learn about Mexico’s most popular religious and cultural image.”
During this special event the attendees will be able to enjoy a traditional mariachi music performed by the Mariachi Monumental de Mexico and there will be a shrine and short play to commemorate the apparitions of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Participants are welcomed to bring flowers for the altar and wear traditional cultural clothing. If you wish you could help Latinos Unidos of Augustana and buy a flower during the event.
“Augustans’s Latinos Unidos will be fundraising roses to set on the altar for $3 each,” Anna Dominguez, Latinos Unidos President, commented.
