A Hispanic family in Iowa is asking for help after a devastating accident. Now a father of a family is recovering in a hospital due to a car accident while his newborn son is in another due to premature birth.
Their GoFundMe message says: On Tuesday morning August 1, as Jose, 26, of Iowa City, was on his way to work in southern Iowa, a horse and buggy on the roadway made an aggressive move in the road causing Jose to have to veer off the road and go into the ditch. As a result, Jose was ejected from the car as the car flipped over. He was able to pull himself onto the roadway where a passerby noticed him and called 911.
Jose was immediately airlifted to Des Moines Mercy Hospital where he is in critical condition and was immediately taken into surgery. We have since learned that he has a collapsed lung, broken pelvis, bruised kidneys, some spinal injuries and multiple lacerations across his body. He has already had 2 surgeries and he had his 3rd surgery on Sat. August 5th to repair the left side of his pelvis. It’s safe to say he will be spending some time in the hospital.
This comes at a difficult time as Jose & Amanda’s son is currently at the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital due to premature delivery. They are already consumed with medical bills from their child, and now the added expenses of Jose’s medical care, and the travel, food, and lodging expenses that will accrue as Amanda travels between the 2 hospitals.
Anybody who knows Jose knows he always sees each day as a new day to succeed and make the most out of it. He always has a smile and is willing to lend a helping hand with no complaints. His hard work and dedication are something that sticks out as the strongest attributes about him.
Please join us in helping us bless this family during this difficult time and ease their burden. All money will be given to Jose and his family to help pay for their expenses.
