The temporary winter season runs from October through April

Iowa DOT winter maintenance crews operate around the clock when weather conditions require it, so workers can be called in during snow or ice events.

The department says schedules and hours are flexible and can be arranged around worker availability, although winter weather determines when additional staffing is needed.

Applicants can review the requirements and submit an application through the State of Iowa’s Temporary Winter Maintenance Worker posting.
