The two-day event will bring Latino leaders, students, educators and advocates to Iowa City for workshops, panels, networking and community-building under the theme “Embracing Our Past, Building Our Future.”
Iowa City, IA – The Iowa City LULAC Councils 308 and 373 will host Iowa LULAC’s 2026 Annual Conference on Friday, May 1, and Saturday, May 2, at the Hilton Garden Inn Iowa City Downtown University, 328 S. Clinton St., in Iowa City. This year’s conference theme is “Embracing Our Past, Building Our Future.”
The conference is set to bring together community leaders, students, educators, elected officials, business leaders and advocates for a weekend focused on leadership development, community collaboration, educational workshops, networking, mentorship and civic engagement.
Registration includes access to all conference events, along with an evening reception with hors d’oeuvres, continental breakfast and a plated lunch. Organizers have listed registration options for student members, adult members and non-members.
Programming begins Friday with an evening social from 6 to 8 p.m. featuring MCs Francisco Olalde and Linda Pineda, a performance by the Muscatine High School Mariachi Band and Cynthia Orozco, National LULAC Historian from New Mexico.
Saturday’s conference day includes breakfast, a welcome session, presentations, panels, a lunch keynote, a business meeting and elections. Sessions on the schedule include the Iowa LULAC Council Panel: “Best Practices,” the education panel “Centering Students,” the University of Iowa Collegiate “Embracing Heritage” Workshop, “The Anatomy of Your Leadership,” the Strengthening Communities Panel and an author presentation by John-Paul Chaisson Cardenas on 4H: A DEI Love Story. Cynthia Orozco is also scheduled to deliver the lunch keynote.
With programming focused on leadership, education, community-building and civic engagement, the conference is set to bring together voices from across Iowa for two days of learning, connection and collaboration in Iowa City.
