Mexican nationals, Giovani Dos Santos and Rafa Marqu
ez helped FC Barcelona defeat Germany’s Stuttgart duo of Ricardo Osorio and Pavel Pardo 3-1. Barcelona’s Giovani, as he’s known in Europe scored in the 36th minute to tie the match after Stuttgart took the lead in the 3rd minute.
Pardo was the only one of the four to not play in the game and unfortunately for Stuttgart, are eliminated after finishing last in their group. Barcelona advances along with Lyon of France out Group E.
Other teams to advance to the Round of 16 were FC Porto (Portugal), Liverpool (England), Chelsea (England), Schalke (Germany), Real Madrid (Spain), Olympiacos (Greece), AC Milan (Italy), Celtic (Scotland), Manchester United (England), Roma (Italy), Internazionale (Italy), Fenerbahce (Turkey), Sevilla (Spain), and Arsenal (England).
A draw will determine who will play who, with the following guidelines, a first place team from one group will play a second place team from another group. The round of 16 matches will be start Feb. 19.
