Natalie Zarowny joined WHBF-TV News Channel 4 in Rock Island as a reporter this June.
The new job is her first since graduating from Emerson College in Boston, but she’s far from a newcomer to the broadcast news business. Zarowny grew up in the Chicago area, where both her mother and stepfather work in broadcast news.
“I always knew that I wanted to do something that involved talking to people,” says Zarowny. “I love the idea that every single day is different.”
Born in Miami into a Cuban family, Zarowny is fluent in Spanish. She looks forward to doing more stories about how national immigration policy is affecting Latinos locally.
“I’m excited to be somewhere with a big Hispanic community and there’s not many Hispanic people in the media in the Quad Cities,” says Zarowny.
