Festivities surrounding the Bix 7 will run from Thursday, July 23, through Saturday, July 25, with concerts, street parties, local food and several free family activities.
Davenport, IA — Downtown Davenport will come alive with three days of live music, food, children’s activities and street parties during Bix Weekend, the annual celebration surrounding the Quad-City Times Bix 7.
Events begin Thursday, July 23, and continue through Saturday, July 25. The main race starts Saturday at 8 a.m. near the intersection of Fourth and Brady streets.
Thousands of runners, spectators and visitors are expected downtown throughout the weekend. Activities will take place at several locations, and many are free to attend.
Festivities begin Thursday on Brady Street
The Hilltop Brady Street Party will take place Thursday, July 23, from 5 to 9 p.m. at MLK Park, located at 501 Brady St.
The event will feature food trucks and live music from The Zach Harris Band. The Brady Street Sprints will begin at 7 p.m. on the well-known Brady Street hill.
The Running Wild Sports & Fitness Expo will also open Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. at RiverCenter South. It will continue Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and serve as the packet pickup location for race participants.
Friday brings jazz and family activities downtown
Bix Jazz & Family Jam will be held Friday, July 24, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at Kaiserslautern Square, located at 119 E. Third St.
The free event will feature performances by the Ron Tegeler Jazz Trio and The Blackhawk Broadcasters, along with food from local vendors.
Family activities will include caricatures, balloon art, face painting and magic.
The Arconic Jr. Bix begins at 6 p.m. near East Third and Fourth streets, with races for children in several age groups.

Friday night’s celebration will continue on West Third Street between Ripley and Harrison streets. The Bix Mix Street Party begins at 7:30 p.m. with a free performance by Dirt Road Rockers.
Motor Row will host concerts and family fun after the race
Motor Row Victory Lane begins Saturday, July 25, at 9 a.m. on East Second Street between Iowa and Perry streets, immediately after the Bix 7.
The T-Fiber Stage lineup includes Ronnie and the Redwoods at 10 a.m., The Textures at 11:30 a.m., Six Foot Blonde at 1 p.m. and The Silkies at 2:45 p.m.
A free Family Fun Zone will offer bounce houses, caricatures, face painting, balloon art, lawn games and a bubble station.
Food options will include Café San Lorenzo, Eli’s Empanadas, Front Street Brewery, Great River Brewery, Kona Ice, Smokin’ Goodness and other local vendors.
Jazz in the Courtyard will feature another free performance by The Blackhawk Broadcasters on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to noon at Skybridge Courtyard, located at 141 W. River Drive.
Bix Mix will resume Saturday at 11 a.m. on West Third Street. QC Rock Academy will open the day’s schedule, followed by Wyatt Weipert and For Those About to Yacht at 6 p.m. Admission to the evening program is $10, and Pork Tornadoes will close out the night.
City-owned parking ramps in downtown Davenport will be free throughout the day Saturday.
