Ecuadorian artist Mister Alek has completed a World Cup mural in Kansas City titled “Dos Naciones, Una Pasión”.
The mural is located at 2000 Main St. and features Lionel Messi of Argentina and Willian Pacho of Ecuador, two national teams connected to Kansas City during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Kansas City hosted its first World Cup match on Tuesday, June 16, when Argentina defeated Algeria 3-0 behind a Messi hat trick. The city will also host Ecuador against Curaçao on Saturday, June 20.
An Ecuadorian artist leaves his mark in a World Cup host city

Mister Alek, an artist originally from Ecuador, signed the piece with the Spanish title “Dos Naciones, Una Pasión”.
The mural brings together Messi, one of Argentina’s biggest figures, and Pacho, a defender for Ecuador’s national team.
Argentina is based in the Kansas City region
Messi’s presence in the mural connects to one of Kansas City’s most visible World Cup moments so far.
Argentina is using the Kansas City region as its base camp during the tournament, with lodging in the Berkley Riverfront area and training at Sporting Kansas City’s facilities across the state line.
Argentina opened its tournament in Kansas City on June 16 against Algeria. Messi scored all three goals at Arrowhead Stadium, giving Kansas City a high-profile debut as a World Cup host city.
Ecuador plays in Kansas City on June 20
Pacho’s place in the mural comes before Ecuador’s second match of the tournament.
Ecuador will face Curaçao on Saturday, June 20, at 8 p.m. at Kansas City Stadium.
The match is part of Group E. Ecuador enters the game after a 1-0 loss to Côte d’Ivoire, while Curaçao comes in after a 7-1 loss to Germany.
