104th Annual Fort Madison Mexican Fiesta

One of Iowa’s oldest cultural celebrations returns for its 104th year with a three-day fiesta honoring Mexican traditions, community, and family fun.
- Thursday, Sept. 11: Carnival & vendors open, followed by a lively street dance and the traditional Ghost of Judas event.
- Friday, Sept. 12: Festivities continue with the Grand Entrance, guest speakers (TBA), the Fiesta Queen crowning, and a street dance featuring music from Crooked Cactus.
- Saturday, Sept. 13: The day kicks off with a 5K race and a bike parade/helmet giveaway.
- Food competitions heat up with the burrito and jalapeño eating contest, plus the Spiciest Bite/ Drink Contest. With this year’s theme, Como La Flor (Like a Flower), the festival celebrates the flourishing spirit of community when people grow together. Festivities include immigrant business tours, a lively Lotería night, a colorful parade, Zumbathon, and the Latino Heritage Festival. The week kicks off with a special performance of México en el Corazón at the Orpheum Theatre on August 24.
