Beeglobal president Daniela Martinez is hoping for a colorful and diverse event at this year’s Cultural and Diversity Festival that will feature martial arts demonstrations to different dances, and food from all over the world at the Rogalski Center at St. Ambrose University on Sunday, March 30 beginning at noon. Arts and crafts will be available for the children.

Martinez, a Masters of Business Administration student at St. Ambrose, is a study abroad student from Cuenca, Ecuador. “Beeglobal is a student organization from St. Ambrose University that promotes and encourages interaction between people of all cultures on campus, educating the campus community about various cultures and reaching out to the larger community,” she said.<\/p>\n

The festival committee has been working since December on the event putting countless hours into it. Martinez is looking forward to the most, the event itself. “I am really excited to see all the new artists\/performers this year, as well as trying new food from restaurants in the area. I am also looking forward to the children’s area because it is so much fun to watch the little kids walk around getting their passports stamped and learning about different countries and cultures,” she said.<\/p>

The event used to be called the “International Rendezvous” but in 2007, under the leadership of former Beeglobal president, Hagit Bilton, the event changed its named to the Cultural Festival to open the event to the Quad City community and serve as a fundraiser for the group. Advisor Sherri Spillman is hoping to raise $4,000 from the event for study abroad students and international students.
“One of my favorite things is seeing so much broad diversity in one place having a good time,” Spillman said.<\/p>\n

The event is from 12 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 30 at St. Ambrose University’s Rogalski Center, 518 West Locust Street,Davenport, Iowa. SAU students and children under 12 are free.  Admission for adults is only $2. <\/p>\n
