{"id":959,"date":"2008-03-05T09:18:27","date_gmt":"2008-03-05T09:18:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/166.62.41.2\/~holaamericanews\/2008\/03\/05\/viva-quad-cities-moving-to-moline\/"},"modified":"2008-03-05T09:18:27","modified_gmt":"2008-03-05T09:18:27","slug":"viva-quad-cities-moving-to-moline","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/holaamericanews.com\/es\/viva-quad-cities-moving-to-moline\/","title":{"rendered":"Viva Quad-Cities Moving to Moline"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> Viva Quad Cities, the Hispanic cultural festival that has in recent years been held in Iowa, will return to Moline in September. <\/p>\n<p>  <!--more--> <\/p>\n<p> The first Viva Quad Cities was at the John Deere Tech Center in Moline in 1993.<br \/>  For the past four years, the fiesta was at the Isle of Capri in Bettendorf, but recently the Viva Quad Cities board of directors approved the event&rsquo;s return to Bass Street Landing in Moline.  <\/p><div id=\"holaa-4138278405\" class=\"holaa-ad-inside-articles-2\" style=\"margin-top: 2px;margin-bottom: 2px;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;text-align: center;\"><div class=\"holaa-adlabel\">Advertisements<\/div><a data-no-instant=\"1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.desmoinesperformingarts.org\/whats-on\/series\/summerarts\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"a2t-link\" aria-label=\"HI-SummerSeries-300&#215;250-SP\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/holaamericanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/HI-SummerSeries-300x250-SP.jpg\" alt=\"\"  width=\"300\" height=\"250\"  style=\"display: inline-block;\" \/><\/a><\/div><br style=\"clear: both; display: block; float: none;\"\/>\n<p> The organization also holds its Cinco de Mayo event at the same location, this year scheduled for May 3.   <\/p>\n<p> The 15th annual Viva Quad Cities is scheduled for Sept. 5 and 6.<br \/>  Officials said cost considerations were one reason for the move. The Moline venue is cheaper than the Iowa site.   <\/p>\n<p> Lori Rodrigues-Fisher, board chairperson, said board members looked at the pros and cons of moving the event.   <\/p>\n<p> &ldquo;We as a board believed it was to the best advantage to move it back to Moline,&rdquo; Ms. Rodrigues-Fisher said. &ldquo;It just made more sense to go back to Moline.&rdquo;   <\/p><div id=\"holaa-4203784904\" class=\"holaa-ad-inside-articles\" style=\"margin-top: 2px;margin-bottom: 2px;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;text-align: center;\"><div class=\"holaa-adlabel\">Advertisements<\/div><a data-no-instant=\"1\" href=\"https:\/\/hhs.iowa.gov\/health-prevention\/diabetes-prevention-management\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"a2t-link\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Diabetes Spanish 300&#215;250\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/holaamericanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Diabetes-Spanish-300x250-2.jpg\" alt=\"\"  width=\"300\" height=\"250\"  style=\"display: inline-block;\" \/><\/a><\/div><br style=\"clear: both; display: block; float: none;\"\/>\n<p> Officials said the money the festival saves can be used elsewhere. People from any culture or background are encouraged to apply. Since the beginning, more than 200 students have received scholarships.   <\/p>\n<p> &ldquo;We do this because we believe in education,&rdquo; said Ms. Rodrigues-Fisher, &ldquo;and people we help are in financial need.
