What do you get when you take your favorite sport stadiums from around the nation and add obstacles from the popular obstacle race-style Spartan Runs? You get the Spartan Stadium Series and for the first time in over five years, it\u2019s taking over the Chicagoland area this Saturday at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, IL, home of the Major League Soccer club, the Chicago Fire. \u201cIt\u2019s our first stadium event in Chicago and from a stadium series event that we do, this is on a much smaller scale,\u201d explained Spartan Race Director, Jason Barnes. \u201cThe nice thing is because it\u2019s a smaller stadium, its more like a hybrid race because it involves a lot of the elements on the outside of the stadium as well as inside.\u201d<\/p>\n

If you have ever done a Spartan run, whether a quick Sprint or a grueling Beast, know that these anything-goes type terrain races can be intimidating. But Barnes explains that Stadium Series runs are in a league of their own because it takes you up close and personal inside some of the most unique stadiums in the nation. \u201cThe stadium runs are huge and they are super popular,\u201d said Barnes. \u201cI think for a couple reasons, one, you don\u2019t have the elements of big mountains that come with the outdoor events and another big draw is that you get to do things and see things in a stadium that you don\u2019t typically get to see as fan if you\u2019re going to a normal sporting event.\u201d<\/p>

As obstacle-style runs continue to grow larger every year, keeping ideas unique and fresh can be a daunting task. But with record numbers coming out to Spartan events and specifically the Stadium Series events over the past few years, Barnes and the rest of the Spartan tribe know that they bring something different to the table for participants of all skill levels. \u201cIt\u2019s just a good bonding experience if you\u2019re coming out with a big group of people,\u201d explained Barnes. \u201cA stadium race is really quick. We have some of the tougher obstacles from the other series, but we also incorporate some obstacles that are exclusive to the stadium series.\u201d<\/p>\n
