With the fees for citizenship going up from $400 to $675, it is quite understandable that many may need a loan, especially when applying for the whole family. <\/p>\n

All it takes is your name, address, phone number, employer, and other basic information. Greg Jipp, Vice President Consumer Loan Manager said the whole application process can be done in no more than a half hour. <\/p>

THE National has created a “New Americans” loan program that pays directly to the U.S. Citizens and Immigrations Services (USCIS). The loan amounts to $675 per person or $1,500 per family and can be paid for up to 18 months. Payments would be about $40 a month with an automatic payment from a THE National Bank account. <\/p>\n

 
“I don’t think you’re going to find anyone else that’s going to do this in a flexible way without having to jump a lot of those hurdles,” Jipp said. “There’s no minimum credit score or collateral damage required. We charge processing fees on all other consumer loans, there’s no fees [on New Americans Loans], no prepayment penalty, nothing.” <\/p>\n

 
The criteria requires that you be a lawful permanent resident of the United States, copies of the citizenship application(s) is required, the loan purpose is solely for the payment of filing and associated fees for the citizenship application and you must have an open THE National Bank deposit account. <\/p>\n

The interest rate is 10.25 percent Annual Percentage Rate (APR) and is reduced to 10 percent APR with an automatic payment from a THE National Bank account.
Speaking on the programs that his bank offers, Jipp said that this is a good deal. <\/p>

“If anyone’s sincere about getting their citizenship, this is a great way to do it and be flexible into a monthly payment,” he said. <\/p>\n

 
Jipp could not speak for everyone at the bank but mentioned that his bank has a genuine interest in helping the Hispanic community. <\/p>

“I think we’ve got some programs in place that provide adequate financing for housing, which has been a huge thing. We’ve put some bilingual staff to make it more accommodating,” he said. <\/p>\n
