When former UFC lightweight champion, Anthony Pettis (19-5) dropped down in divisions to test his luck as a featherweight, I\u2019m pretty sure he didn\u2019t expect to be fighting for a title after only one fight and one win as a 145 pounder. But on December 10th at UFC 206, he will take on #2 ranked Max Holloway (16-3) in the main event of the evening for the interim Featherweight title. \u201cYou\u2019ve got to be in the right position in the right time,\u201d explained Pettis. \u201cWe don\u2019t decide who\u2019s fighting for the title, but with the interim belt on the line, it makes it that much better of a fight.\u201d<\/p>\n

With an impressive nine fight win streak for Holloway, being moved from the co-main event to the main event due to an injury to Daniel Cormier a few weeks ago made sense for him and where he is at in his career now. \u201cI was supposed to be booked an interim title fight with Jose Aldo,\u201d said Holloway. \u201cThe show still needs to go on and we\u2019re doing it.\u201d<\/p>

Pettis, on the other hand, was coming off of a three fight losing streak before his win over Charles Oliviera last August and has worked out the kinks for this second fight as a featherweight with Holloway. \u201cThe first performance at featherweight was just a trial I guess,\u201d explained Pettis. \u201cWe definitely focused our camp on being quick and being agile and making sure we can go 25 minutes at 145 pounds.\u201d<\/p>\n

For Pettis, being champion is nothing new to him. Holloway though, wants to show in this fight that he is one of those names that belong at the top as well. \u201cThis guy was champion before and defended the belt a bunch of times and was the best in the world for a while,\u201d said Holloway. \u201cI walk around and tell myself that I\u2019m the best in the world and on December 10th, I get a chance to prove that to the world.\u201d<\/p>\n
