MOLINE \u2014 An area family has won the honor of becoming a permanent Lego mini-figure display at the LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Schaumburg, a suburb of Chicago.<\/p>

In January, Mariela Trevino said she found a Facebook ad by the center seeking family photos in front of Chicago landmarks.<\/p>\n

“They announced it (the winner) in March, and I didn’t find out until April because I didn’t check,” Ms. Trevino said. “I just figured I wasn’t going to win because I never win anything.”<\/p>\n

In her picture, she is joined by her brother, the Rev. Guillermo Trevino; her son, Daniel Vargas; and her daughter, Joana Gutierrez in front of the Cloud Gate \u2014 also known as the Chicago Bean \u2014 at Millennium Park in downtown Chicago.<\/p>\n

She said the photo she submitted had been sitting around a while. “It was actually over two years ago,” she said.\"571aab292fcd7.image\"<\/p>

When the photo was taken, Mr. Vargas was 8 years old and and Miss Gutierrez was 4, Ms. Trevino said.<\/p>\n

Ms. Trevino said it was “awesome” to know her family would be immortalized as a LEGO family. She said she hopes to take the family to Schaumburg this summer to see the MINILAND Chicago display that features iconic buildings from the city, made completely of LEGO bricks.<\/p>

The display includes a model of Soldier Field, more than seven feet wide and almost four feet tall, containing 50,000 bricks and 2,000 mini figures that features an interactive football game. It also includes O’Hare International Airport, a three-foot-wide, four-foot-tall 10,000-bricks display that includes three planes, a control tower, a radar tower and other buildings.<\/p>\n

The display is in the Streets of Woodfield shopping plaza at 601 N. Martingale Road, Schaumburg. Admission is $18, with discounted tickets available online at\u00a0LEGOLANDDiscoveryCenter.com<\/a><\/p>
