El nitrato puede interferir con la capacidad de la sangre para transportar ox\u00edgeno y causar metahemoglobinemia, conocida com\u00fanmente como s\u00edndrome del beb\u00e9 azul.<\/p>\n<p>Los s\u00edntomas pueden incluir dificultad para respirar y una tonalidad azulada en la piel. Quienes observen esos s\u00edntomas deben buscar atenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica de inmediato.<\/p>\n<p>Hervir el agua contaminada no elimina el nitrato. Una infracci\u00f3n sanitaria puede requerir equipos de tratamiento, una fuente alternativa de agua o una conexi\u00f3n con otro proveedor.<\/p>\n<h2>El informe estatal no incluye los pozos privados<\/h2>\n<p>M\u00e1s de 3.12 millones de habitantes de Iowa recibieron agua de un sistema p\u00fablico regulado en 2025.
