WASHINGTON, D.C. \u2013 Tuesday, the U.S. Supreme Court agreed to grant cert in the case of United States v. Texas. The case will determine the constitutionality of President Obama\u2019s executive actions on immigration that expanded Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and created Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA).\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are gratified by the U.S. Supreme Court\u2019s decision to review the constitutionality of President Obama\u2019s executive actions on immigration,\u201d said LULAC National President Roger C. Rocha, Jr. \u201cDACA and DAPA were designed to provide legal status and work permits to undocumented immigrants who want to earn an honest living and provide for their families.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>

The decision could impact as many as 5 million undocumented people who entered the U.S. as children or who have children who are American citizens.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have full confidence that the Supreme Court will find that the executive actions are in fact constitutional,\u201d said LULAC National Executive Director Brent Wilkes. \u201cSuch a finding will enable the orders to go into effect and provide relief to the millions of individuals whose only wish is to participate in the American dream.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
