Hispanic Heritage Month may be over, but Moline bi-lingual child care center, Casa de Los Ni\u00f1os continues its celebration straight into November. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Casa de Los Ni\u00f1os, in collaboration with the Figge Art Museum in Davenport IA, will have Catrinas, Mexican themed skeletons, on display for the Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Fiesta on Sunday, November 1st from Noon to 5pm along with activities free to the community to help celebrate the Hispanic culture. \u00a0Being one of the few bi-lingual child care centers in the Quad Cities, Casa de Los Ni\u00f1o\u2019s Center Director, Benita Perez-DeLoach explains that their doors are open to everyone in the area. \u00a0\u201cA lot of people think that only those who speak Spanish can come here,\u201d said Perez-DeLoach. \u00a0\u201cBut anyone is welcome.\u201d \u00a0And Casa de Los Ni\u00f1os has gotten somewhat of a makeover in the last few months as well and held its first fundraiser at the beginning of October, a loteria (Mexican Bingo) night to try and raise money for the center. \u00a0 With donations from local businesses, the night was a success as families and friends gathered together for a good cause. \u00a0In a culture where the population is quickly going into one that is majorly mixed, Casa de Los Ni\u00f1os sets themselves apart from the rest because of their multi-cultured atmosphere. \u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s good for kids who don\u2019t speak English at all to feel comfortable to speak Spanish around other kids that are the same as them,\u201d explained Perez-DeLoach. \u00a0\u201cAnd it helps those who only speak English to learn another language as well.\u201d<\/p>
