Branstad yesterday met with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Chinese governors from the provinces of Sichuan, Chongqing, Zhejiang, Shandong, and Shaanxi in Seattle, Wash. \u00a0Their conversations were during the Third Annual U.S.\u2013China Governors Forum and Dialogue, which was arranged by the Chinese Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the state of Washington. \u00a0 In addition to Iowa, the states of California, Michigan, Oregon, and Washington also participated. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>  <!--more-->  <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>During the forum, Branstad highlighted Iowa\u2019s leadership in agriculture, advanced manufacturing, renewable energy and financial services, and stressed the importance in finding stability and predictability in regulations related to trait approval for products and services. \u00a0As a leading agriculture state in the nation, Iowa farmers produce food, fiber and fuel that are exported to China.\u00a0<\/p><div id=\"holaa-2568114900\" class=\"holaa-ad-inside-articles-2\" style=\"margin-top: 2px;margin-bottom: 2px;margin-left: auto;margin-right: auto;text-align: center;\"><div class=\"holaa-adlabel\">Advertisements<\/div><a data-no-instant=\"1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.desmoinesperformingarts.org\/whats-on\/series\/summerarts\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"a2t-link\" aria-label=\"HI-SummerSeries-300&#215;250-SP\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/holaamericanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/HI-SummerSeries-300x250-SP.jpg\" alt=\"\"  width=\"300\" height=\"250\"  style=\"display: inline-block;\" \/><\/a><\/div><br style=\"clear: both; display: block; float: none;\"\/>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Last year, the United States shipped $24 billion worth of agriculture products to China, and $14 billion of that were soy exports. \u00a0That same year, China was Iowa\u2019s 4th largest export market with exports of manufactured and valued goods exceeding $946.4 million. \u00a0Overall exports to China for the first six months of this year are up more than 63% over that same period in 2014, moving China to Iowa\u2019s third largest export market.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignright size-full wp-image-3143\" src=\"http:\/\/166.62.41.2\/~holaamericanews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/gov%202.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" align=\"right\" width=\"410\" height=\"200\" \/>\u201cThe state of Iowa has enjoyed a long lasting friendship with our sister state Hebei and with President Xi. \u00a0We are proud of this relationship and the quality of our goods and services that are exported to China,\u201d said Branstad.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12.16px; line-height: 1.3em;\">As a follow up to these meetings in Seattle, a large Chinese commercial delegation will travel to Iowa on Thursday to sign more than a dozen contracts to purchase soybeans and health products.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Lt.
