U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro, D-Texas spoke on behalf of Hillary Clinton on August 30th at Cinco de Mayo Restaurant in Des Moines. He met many of central Iowa Latino leaders.<\/p>\n

Currently, he\u2019s campaigning for Clinton. Hillary for Iowa hosted the event to talk about the importance of the Latino vote for Clinton\u2014about 40 people attended the event. The Latino community that attended the event brought up questions on DACA and DAPA, refugee crisis, detention centers, emailgate and about Bernie Sanders (I-VT).\u00a0<\/p>

Castro questioned republican presidential candidate Bobby Jindal on his statement that he made, \u201cimmigration without assimilation is an invasion.\u201d He made a good counter statement in regards to Jindal asking, \u201cWho gets to decide when someone is assimilated?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

The attendees gave Castro a positive feedback for visiting Iowa, for sharing his story and speaking to them about Clinton. He encouraged the Latino community to part-take in the Iowa caucuses. \u00a0<\/p>\n

This week democratic presidential hopefuls Martin O\u2019Malley met with the Latino community of Iowa at the #UniteIowa Forum and Bernie Sanders is meeting with a group of Iowa Latinos in Muscatine Iowa this week leaving only Hillary as the only democratic candidate still to meet personally with the Latino community of Iowa.\u00a0<\/p>\n
