LULAC Council #10 Davenport, Iowa will be holding its annual September Fiesta Saturday September 12, 2015 from 5:00 PM \u2013 11:00 AM. \u00a0<\/p>\n

This event commemorates the declaration of Independence of Mexico from Spain in 1810 as well as Hispanic Heritage Month. \u00a0<\/p>\n

One of the traditions at the Fiesta is the crowning of the Fiesta Queen.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Winning the crown means representing LULAC at parades and other community events.<\/p>\n

All proceeds from the ticket sales go toward the LULAC Scholarship Fund<\/p>\n

This is a very important part of our annual scholarship fundraising effort. For many years the Queen contest has help sustain the scholarship program.<\/p>\n

Mexican Independence Day parade in East Moline is becoming a local tradition. It started seven years ago and still going strong thanks to hard work of its organizers Abel and Juanita Zertuche.<\/p>\n

Abel and Juanita Zertuche invite everyone to this year\u2019s fun and family oriented event. This year Mexican Independence Day Parade in East Moline will be on Sunday September 13. The celebration will start at 12 PM at Triumph Bank parking lot with a parade and it will go on 15th Ave. After the parade stay for the party with food for sale and activities for kids that include bouncing houses, face painting and balloons sculptures. The music by DJ and group La Razon will play all day. Also, for your viewing pleasure enjoy the performances of the Quad City famous Ballet Folklorico and listen to the kids play mariachi presented by Glenview Middle School Mariachi Band.<\/p>\n

According to Abel Zertuche, for the first time in seven years this year they will be looking to choose Princesa de la Fiesta. Any little girl present can end up being a princess.<\/p>\n

After the Fiesta there will be a dance with music played by La Razon. The dance will start around 6 PM or a little after and it will finish at 9 PM.<\/p>\n

Mexican Independence Day Parade in East Moline is a free event. Get your family together and come to spend all day enjoying the great celebration of Mexican culture. The event is on September 13 starting at 12 PM at Triumph Bank parking lot. \u00a0<\/p>\n

The festival includes various musical entertainment, dancers, martial arts performers, a children\u2019s area, Latin American foods, booths about the countries represented at the festival and more.<\/p>\n
