As the snow and cold air still lingers on the ground and in the air of the Quad Cities, on Tuesday, February 17, known worldwide as Fat Tuesday, The Figge Art Museum will be heating up from the spices of the great food from the Mardi Gras Rajun Cajun Fest.<\/p>\n

Chefs from ten Quad City restaurants such as, Thunder Bay, Johnny\u2019s Italian Steakhouse and the Figge will offer samples of their Cajun inspired dishes. \u201cThis is a great event and the Figge is a great fit for it,\u201d said Figge Art Museum Marketing Coordinator, Natalie Dunlop. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>

With samples such as andoulie corn fritters, blackend seared scallops over Cajun quinoa salad and spicy Cajun pulled pork, guests are encouraged to vote for their favorite chef of the evening who will win a People\u2019s Choice plaque. \u00a0\u201cThe focus is the food,\u201d said Dunlop. \u00a0\u201cThere are some really fun and interesting dishes that this area wouldn’t normally see on a menu.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

This is the third year the Figge has hosted the event and all the proceeds go to the museums \u00a0art education outreach programs which brings art from the Figge out to thousands of area students. \u00a0\u201cWe\u2019ve been getting a great response so far,\u201d said Dunlop. \u00a0\u201cWe had a big turnout last year and I\u2019m excited to see the same this year.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Mardi Gras Rajun Cajun Fest is Tuesday, February 17th at the Figge Art Museum, 225 West Second Street, in downtown Davenport, IA. \u00a0The event starts at 5:30pm and will go until 8pm. \u00a0For more information on this event, or to purchase tickets, visit www.figgeartmuseum.org. \u00a0Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 the day of the event and at the door.<\/p>\n
