September 16 is celebrated in honor of Mexico\u2019s Independence from Spain. Every year LULAC celebrates this day with a big party and this year is special as LULAC Council 10 also celebrates their 55th Anniversary. And for this special occasion they will be celebrating with a live Mariachi band.<\/p>\n

LULAC invites everyone to celebrate Mexican Independence Day and meet the new Fiesta Queen on Saturday September 13, 2014. The celebration will be from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM at the LULAC center located on 4224 Ricker Hill Road, Davenport.<\/p>

The social hour starts at 4:00 PM with music by Mariachi Campirano followed by a delicious dinner provided by El Mariachi restaurant. After the dinner guests will be able to enjoy a great entertainment program. There will QC Ballet Folklorico and music by Los Mocambos. One of the highlights of this celebration is the tradition of the crowning of the LULAC Queen.<\/p>\n

\"\"“This is a very important part of our annual scholarship fundraising effort. For many years the Queen contest has helped sustain the scholarship program” said Mike Reyes, president of LULAC Davenport.<\/p>\n
